FÁTIMA: Because we haven't seen enough churches.... Lynne wants to go to Fatima, where the Virgin Mary appeared to 3 Portuguese shepherd children. It's probably an easier day if a tour company runs it. (I will probably book a full day tour to Fatima, Nazarre, Obidos and Batalha. It's $80 and a 10 hour trip to do the circuit.. Leave at 7:30am, 1.5 hrs to Fatima, 1.5 hours at Fatima, 30 minutes to Batalha, Guided tour 30 minutes, 45 minutes to Nazarre, 2 hour walking tour, 30 minutes to Obidos, 1 hour there. Back by 5:30pm. ) Please let me know if you plan to accompany me, as it's likely to sell out and I need to get tickets soon.
ALAMADA: If Fatima doesn't work out, I would go to Almada, crossing the Tagus River to see Lisbon from the many viewpoints on the OTHER side of the river. I would go to the Santuario Nacional de Cristo Rei, a riverside viewpoint with panoramic city and bridge views, serene gardens and the striking statue we have been looking at all week of Christ the King. Next door, there's also an immersive interactive Museu da Água, and a historical collection about water. Also there is a Navy Museum that looks like an interesting place, a warship museum with two warship from the navy. Definitely I would check out the Elevador Panorámico da Boca do Vento for a great view of Lisbon, Cristo Rei and the river from the top... and it's free.
BEACH DAY: Lisbon also has some beaches to explore. Praia (beach) de Carcavelos is popular for young people.
CONCERT: Scott and Brock have expressed an interest in seeing NOSalive (concert) at Palco NOS. The ticket includes Olivia Rodrigo, Benson Boon, Noah Kahan and Mark Ambor. (That ticket is €84) They need to be at the concert at 5pm in Lisbon.
CASCAIS: Another idea is to take a day trip to Cascais, a premier holiday destination of Portugal's Riviera. First, got to the Praia da Conceicao to relax. Next, see the the 19th century villas that were built when King Luis I spent his summers here. Cabo da Roca, the western most point in Europe is a 15 minute stop. The cliffs lie within the protected Serra de Sintra nature park. From Cascais, you can walk the scenic costal pathway built upon the seawalls that protect the coastline. It's a pretty 2.5 km route that passes the beaches villas, cafes shops and beach bars. Highlights should be the Castro Guimaraes Museum, the Boca do Inferno cliffs, the Praia da Rainha beach, the Promenade, the Mercado da Vila market, the Casa das Histórias Paula Rego art gallery and Parque Marechal Carmona park.
